GET INVOLVED! What is your role in advancing the energy transition ?

REN 21, the Renewable Energy Policy Network of the 21st century, will publish the first-ever renewables in cities global status report during Energy Cities annual conference at the 2019 ICCA. In order to showcase the recent developments of renewable energy in cities and the role played by local authorities in advancing the energy transition, we need your help.

Why this report?

We know that cities and local action play a key role in the energy transition. However, there is little data-based evidence on how your ambition translates into the development of renewable energy in cities. It is therefore crucial to showcase the role that cities play in advancing the energy transition for policy makers and stakeholders. The report, which should become a powerful tool for different types of stakeholders to inform (sub-) national regulatory frameworks, support city-level commitments and facilitate better multi-level integration to collectively shape the debate on cities in the energy transition. It is also a starting point to linking cities, in a more holistic way, to the energy debate.

Energy Cities is a member of the report Advisory Committee and supports REN21 in the data collection process. We thus invite you to be part of the collaborative effort to create data-based evidence on the role cities and local action play in advancing the global renewable energy transition.

How to get involved:

  • Online questionnaire can be accessed on the REN21 collaborative data collection platform.
  • Access the instructions for the completion of the questionnaire.
  • Do not forget to provide full sources/references for all information that you contribute. Clear referencing is essential to maintaining the integrity of the report.
  • Data collection will be open until 11th of March 2019!
  • Producing the Renewables in Cities Global Status Report will not be possible without you. The report is a collaboratively created document.

All contributors will be acknowledged in the final report. More info can be found on the REN21 website

We are looking forward to developing the report based on your contributions.
