You are interested in how the EU is going to meet its energy efficiency objectives but you have missed the Energy Efficiency Watch 3 webinars? This article is for you!

Energy Cities organised a series of webinars as part of the Energy Efficiency Watch (EEW3) to present the outcomes of the project. The project has been accompanying the implementation of the Energy Efficiency Directive (EED) since 2006. In its third phase, EEW3 carried out a broad quantitative survey, complementing with in-depth qualitative interviews with local experts to reveal their local perceptions on national energy efficiency policies and summarised findings in 28 country reports.

Energy Cities have shared findings and key results of the project in a series of 6 webinars (partly co-organised with Fedarene):

  • The first webinar focused on the presentation of the Energy Efficiency Watch’s project survey in the EU Member States and the ongoing discussions of the EU Clean Energy package on energy efficiency. Michael Rijsberman form the Committee of the Regions called for a strong binding energy efficiency target of 40% by 2030 and more ambitious national renovation strategies of Member States for the EPBD implementation.
  • In the second EU wide webinar, we discussed the key policy recommendations of the project and you can discover interesting local buildings policy from Ireland, as the Tipperary Energy Agency presented its ‘Super Homes’ initiative. EASME completed the picture with a presentation of their ‘Smart Finance for Smart Buildings’ opportunities.

You could also learn the EU Commission’s agenda on energy efficiency as well as how the Investors’ Confidence Project (ICP) helps boost investments thanks to standardisation and certification of work.
